A big day for three generations of Rotarians at the Club.

Read what the Bradford newspaper the "Telegraph and Argus" had to say on the matter.

Three generations of Pudsey Rotarians have been honoured in a ceremony that remembered the past and looked to the future.

Immediate past president David Sutcliffe handed over the reins to Fred Beaumont, who has pledged to increase membership by ten per cent during his presidential year.

And, in one of his final acts as president, Mr Sutcliffe also welcomed freelance writer David Robbins to the Rotary Club of Pudsey. Mr Robbins is a keen cyclist and a member of Fulneck Dramatic Society.

Speaking at the event in Queen's Hall, Pudsey, Mr Sutcliffe said: "It's been an honour to be president. It's right that the last thing I did was to welcome a
new member which looks to the future. What a marvellous way to go out."

And one of Mr Beaumont's first duties was to present the club's most senior member, Phillip Gaunt, with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his
dedication to Rotary. Mr Gaunt, 82, a retired physiotherapist and the club's most senior member, was one of 25 people who formed the club in June 1952.
The only other Pudsey Rotarian to be honoured in this way is Ernest Maude, who was also present.

Presenting the fellowship to Mr Gaunt, Mr Beaumont described him as an inspiration and a kind and generous man. Vowing to increase the membership, he added: "Being a Rotarian is good; being a Pudsey Rotarian is great."

And receiving his fellowship, Mr Gaunt said: "I accept it with pride. I will do all I can to further the high standards of this great and happy club."
