blows money Rotary way The
highest part of Pudsey is on Woodhall Hills Golf Club and when its breezy elsewhere "
its blowing hard on them there hills".
Friday 21st August saw the club stage its Pro-Am Golf
Tournament - sponsored by Regal Golf Company - and the Rotary Club of Pudsey had been
asked to run the "Double your money" competition, organised by club professional
Warren Lockett, on the 14th hole.
In the prevailing conditions some excellent golf was
played but only 10 (ten) players managed to manoeuvre their tee shot onto the par three
green. Each wayward shot put money into the rotary clubs charity chest and £425.00
was collected on the tee.
A raffle of a gallon of whisky, donated by golf club
member Derek Seabrook, added a further £223.00.
At the prize giving dinner, Fred Beaumont, president of
Pudsey Rotary Club, thanked the club and golfers for their generosity and said that the
money would be donated to the "Hope and Homes for Children" charity.
