At a special meeting at
lunchtime today, President Robert V. Key presided over a debate on the resolution that
'this club shall retain its single (male) status'. Even though a ballot vote was allowed
for the first time, there was a good turnout of members to hear the points of view. There
were more pro women speakers and they had the best arguments, but the traditionalists won
the day with a vote of 22 to 14 with three abstentions, but the gap is steadily narrowing.
