The day of the walk....

This was a joint venture between the Pudsey Rotary Club and The Rotary Club of Calverley. and it is hoped that "The Plod" can become an annual event about the same time each year.

All the planning which had gone into making this fund raising event a success, depended on two uncontrollable factors - the weather and peoples willingness to turn out on the day.

The registrations leading up to the event had been a little low. However on the day the weather could not have been better, a bright cool day which warmed up as the morning gathered strength.... Ideal for walking.

The start point was in the grounds of the Elmwood Hotel at Calverley and after the initial rush between 8.30 and 9.30 it dwindled to a  trickle - but that trickle continued and in all there were over 120 active walkers, many supporting their own charities as well as ours. It will be some time before we know how much money has been raised for PolioPlus but the event turned out well, and may well be repeated next year.
