... Rotary the World Over

Rotary Club of Pudsey news and whats going on

Murder and Mystery
12th December 2003

“It Happened in Manhatten ‘appen” was the opening drama in an evening of Murder and Mystery, organised by the International Committee and presented at Farsley Church Hall. Chairman John Walker, has subsequently reported a profit of almost £500 for Hope and Homes for Children and other overseas charities. He rightly praised the writing talents of Keith Thompson, whose witty prose and stamina in fronting the presentations, played a huge part in the enjoyment of the event.

Cries of “author, author” were ignored as Keith Thompson thought they were shouting for Arthur. Keith, seen here in his guise as the Lootenent putting Ying Tong Hanson through interrogation.

Anyone with doubts about Rotary being fun should have been there to see the hilarity and sheer enjoyment of over 60 local supporters and players.

Tucking in to pie and peas in the interval, teams were busy trying to unravel the clues and identify the culprit.

The ladies who did, Rosa Walker
and Margaret Sutcliffe, served the best P & Peas.

Just as much overacted, though somewhat easier to detect, was the dastardly villain in “Lord Chatterley’s Lover” the follow-on drama put on after refreshments.

The sweet maid
(Jean Thompson)
gave the great detective a good dusting off.

John Walker as the W.I. Vicar
and the vicar, David Sutcliffe,
as the Butler. Confused?
It all became murkier

Did the glamorous Miss Primrose (Chris
Robbins) really fancy the portly Colonel
Custard? (Freddy Beaumont)

Poor Mellors (David Robbins) was having
one of those days

Katy Beaumont’s team won the major detection prize with Cheeky Charlie Clough scooping most of the others
